Without Fair Trade, Quality Will Decline

If Kratom producers are not happy with the compensation they receive in return for their work, they will find other work that pays better.

one other alternative for unhappy workers with no better prospects elsewhere is to do lower quality work in revenge for insufficient pay.

It is cruel to have started out paying much higher rates per kilo 15 or 20 years ago — to workers with few other options in the communities along the Kapuas Hulu river — and then the prosperous US vendors, slowly reduced what they would pay, even though the profits created by turning lower quality, lower potency leaves into highly profitable EXTRACTS.

I have personally followed this sad abuse of workers, even as Kratom leaf became a popular way that millions of Americans used to overcome the fearsome withdrawals as the US FDA and CDC decided to restrict their easy access to opioid drugs, which forced millions to discover the traditional method Southeast Asians used to cope with pain and opioid withdrawal, Kratom.

At that time, even as we in the AKA were fighting to keep Kratom legal here in the USA, we were also asked by Indonesian Kratom farmers to provide their indigenous Kratom advocates with scientific studies to show the BNN and other ministries in an effort to keep Kratom legal even as the BNN was eager to cut down every Kratom tree, both wild and domestic, in Indonesia.

Because of this double-edged campaign that threatened both poor Indonesian farmers as well as millions of Americans who had found relief, I was approached by a Dayak going by the name of Princesha Keytum.

I found her plea for help compelling, so I agreed to help.
